Our Story
Optus Glean was founded in Glaslough, County Monaghan, with a clear objective: to build a cleaning and facilities management company that operates to a standard most Irish businesses have never experienced from a cleaning provider. Not a one-person operation with a mop and a van. Not a franchise model with inconsistent delivery. A structured, documented, scalable operation that treats cleaning as a professional discipline — because it is one.
We started with contract cleaning and quickly identified a gap in the market. Facilities managers, procurement teams, and property managers across Ireland were telling us the same thing: they could not find a cleaning company that provided consistent quality, proper documentation, trained and vetted staff, and transparent reporting. The large multinationals were too expensive and inflexible. The small local operators were too unreliable and undocumented. There was a gap in between, and Optus Glean was built to fill it.
Today, we operate across all 26 counties from our registered office at 26 Village Square, Castle Leslie Estate, Glaslough, Co. Monaghan, H18 XP59. We serve hotels, healthcare providers, corporate offices, retail environments, construction sites, educational institutions, property management companies, and public sector organisations. Our client base ranges from 20-room hotels to multi-site healthcare groups, from single office buildings to national retail chains.
Our Mission
Our mission is straightforward: deliver consistent, compliant, and scalable cleaning and facilities services across Ireland. Consistent means every clean is performed to the same documented standard, whether it is the first visit or the five-hundredth. Compliant means every operative is Garda vetted, Safe Pass certified, and trained on site-specific method statements before their first shift. Scalable means we can mobilise teams for a single office or a 200-room hotel turnaround with the same level of quality assurance.
We do not chase volume at the expense of quality. We do not undercut competitors by cutting corners on wages, training, or insurance. We price fairly, deliver consistently, and document everything. That is the Optus Glean model, and it is why our clients stay.
Four Divisions, One Standard
Optus Glean is organised into four operational divisions. Each division has its own service lines, method statements, and specialist training programmes. But every division operates to the same quality management framework, the same compliance standards, and the same reporting structure.
Division 1: Contract Cleaning
Scheduled cleaning services for organisations that need reliable, ongoing cleaning on a daily, weekly, or periodic basis. This covers office and corporate cleaning, retail and commercial cleaning, hotel and hospitality cleaning, apartment block cleaning, and student accommodation cleaning. Contract cleaning is our largest division and the foundation of most client relationships.
Division 2: Specialist Cleaning
Services that require specialist training, equipment, or compliance frameworks beyond standard contract cleaning. This includes healthcare and clinical cleaning (HIQA IPC-compliant), post-construction cleaning, end-of-tenancy cleaning, industrial and warehouse cleaning, carpet and floor cleaning, window cleaning, and pressure washing. Specialist cleaning is where our documentation-backed approach delivers the most value — particularly in healthcare, where HIQA audits demand evidence of compliance.
Division 3: Laundry & Linen
Commercial laundry, linen hire, and uniform laundering for hotels, restaurants, healthcare providers, salons, and gyms. We collect, wash, iron, fold, and return textiles on a scheduled basis. For clients who also use our cleaning services, our teams deliver clean linen as part of the cleaning shift — eliminating double handling and saving 15–25% compared to separate providers.
Division 4: Facilities Support
Washroom services, consumable supply, waste management, and grounds maintenance. Facilities support services are typically bundled with contract cleaning to provide a single-provider solution that simplifies procurement, reduces administration, and ensures accountability.
Documentation-Backed Approach
What separates Optus Glean from most cleaning companies in Ireland is not what we promise — it is what we document. We maintain 172 operational documents across our four divisions, covering every aspect of service delivery from induction to incident response.
- Method statements for every service type and environment
- Risk assessments for every site and task category
- COSHH data sheets for every chemical product used on client sites
- Site-specific cleaning specifications agreed with every client
- Induction checklists and training records for every operative
- Quality audit templates and scoring frameworks
- Incident and accident reporting procedures
- HIQA IPC compliance frameworks for healthcare clients
- TUPE transfer documentation for contract changeovers
- Environmental and sustainability policies
This documentation pack is not a marketing exercise. It is a working operational toolkit that our managers use daily and that our clients can present to regulators, auditors, and inspectors. When a HIQA inspector asks your cleaning provider for their infection prevention and control documentation, we hand over a folder — not a blank stare.
Our Team
Every person who works on an Optus Glean contract — from the operative who cleans your floors to the manager who conducts your quality audits — meets the same baseline requirements before they start their first shift.
- Garda vetted through the National Vetting Bureau
- Safe Pass certified (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
- Manual handling trained and certified
- COSHH trained on all chemical products used on their assigned site
- Site-specific induction completed and documented
- Method statement training for all tasks in their cleaning specification
- Uniformed, badged, and identifiable at all times
We pay above the sectoral employment order (SEO) minimum rate because experienced, reliable operatives deliver better results, lower turnover, and fewer client complaints. Underpaying cleaning staff is the single biggest reason cleaning contracts fail, and we refuse to do it.
Our Values
Four values guide every decision at Optus Glean, from pricing a contract to handling a client complaint.
- Consistency — The same standard on every visit, every site, every time. Consistency is built through documentation, training, and quality audits — not through hope.
- Compliance — Every operative vetted, every chemical documented, every method statement followed. We do not cut corners on compliance because the consequences fall on our clients, not just on us.
- Accountability — Named managers for every contract. Digital quality audits with photographic evidence. Monthly performance reports. If something goes wrong, we own it, fix it, and document the corrective action.
- Transparency — Detailed cost breakdowns in every quote. No hidden charges. Open-book reporting on hours, materials, and performance metrics. Our clients always know exactly what they are paying for and what they are receiving.
Insurance & Compliance
Optus Glean carries comprehensive insurance cover that meets the requirements of the most demanding procurement processes in Ireland.
- €6.5 million Public Liability insurance
- €13 million Employer's Liability insurance
- Professional Indemnity insurance
- All-risks property insurance
We are actively pursuing the following certifications to further strengthen our compliance framework:
- ICCA (Irish Contract Cleaning Association) membership
- Safe-T-Cert health and safety accreditation
- ISO 9001 quality management certification
These certifications are not prerequisites for delivering excellent cleaning — our documentation and processes already exceed what most certifications require. But they provide independent verification that gives our clients additional confidence, particularly in public procurement and healthcare environments where certification is increasingly specified in tender documents.
